NU Advance is a University of Nebraska initiative, offering non-credit credentials and micro-credentials tailored to the unique needs of each individual campus and the communities they serve.
It provides industry-recognized micro-credentials and non-credit certificates, focusing on local growth and development.
NU Advance is designed for a wide range of learners, including offerings for K12 students starting out their careers and educational journey to lifelong learners aiming to learn new skills or level up existing competencies.
NU Advance offers a wide range of courses and micro-credentials. Our courses are built around the idea of skills as the building blocks of all our offerings. Course may be a short self-paced offering focused on 1 or 2 specific skills or may build into larger more comprehensive offerings that are the equivalent of a 3-credit hour college course.
The platform emphasizes experiential learning, collaboration, and inclusivity, fostering a vibrant educational ecosystem.
They are modular, allowing learners to customize their educational pathways, and include assessment methods to ensure mastery.
NU Advance offers comprehensive support for academic programs or community partners interested in developing microcredentials or non-credit courses. This support includes:
- Guidelines for the Creation of Micro-credentials: NU Advance recommends adopting the American Council on Education’s six dimensions of quality that support connected credentials framework. This framework guides the creation of micro-credentials on the NU Advance platform.
- Transparency in Micro-credential Creation and Review: NU Advance ensures transparency in creating and reviewing micro-credentials. This involves providing clear and comprehensive information about the micro-credentials offered, including transparent communication of the learning outcomes, assessment methods, and criteria required to earn each micro-credential.
- Expertise in program development and course design: A team of experienced program managers, learning designers, and multimedia designers that will help learners get the most out of your programs and courses.
